Valence, France – A man was tackled by police after intruding onto the finish line of stage 17 of the Tour de France on July 23, just moments before the riders arrived.
Florent Mejean, who filmed the incident, said, “Incident that occurred today at the finish line in Valence just moments before the arrival of the riders of the 2025 Tour de France, stage 17 between Bollène and Valence.”
The video shows the man riding a bicycle across the finish line in Valence as a police officer shoulder-barges him after a Tour official tries to stop him. The intruder is then seen lying on the ground before being dragged off the course by officials.
The man had jumped the barriers just before the peloton was due to arrive. Jonathan Milan went on to win his second stage of this year’s race.
A 31-year-old man from Montélimer, south of Valence, was arrested and taken into police custody following the incident.
