Albany, New York – On January 28, 2026, the Coast Guard Cutter Penobscot Bay responded to clear the turning basin in Albany for the vessel Negmar Cicek.
The cutter broke through ice to ensure the ship could maneuver safely and confirmed there was no damage before operations resumed.
Homeported in Bayonne, New Jersey, the 140-foot Bay-class icebreaking tug provides search and rescue capabilities in ice-covered areas throughout New York City and the Hudson Valley.
