Ice Jam Shifts Downstream On Ausable River As Flood Warning Continues

Ausable Forks, New York – Video released by Clinton County Emergency Services shows that the ice jam previously blocking the Ausable River near Ausable Forks has broken loose and moved out of the immediate area.

However, the ice has piled up again farther downstream near Clintonville, creating a new blockage along the river. Officials say the jam is likely to continue moving downstream, periodically stopping and building up again.

Authorities warned that these shifting ice jams could cause flooding as conditions change rapidly along the river. Because of this ongoing risk, a Flood Warning remains in effect for the Ausable River.

Residents are urged to remain alert and closely monitor water levels as the situation develops.
