Port St. Lucie, Florida – A pedestrian’s quick action this morning helped save a woman struggling to stay afloat beneath the Crosstown Bridge. Hearing her desperate screams for help, the bystander immediately called 911.
Responding rapidly, the Port St. Lucie Police Department Marine Unit and the St. Lucie County Fire Department worked together to throw a flotation device to the woman as she clung to a concrete pylon.
The Marine Unit arrived by boat shortly after and rescued the woman from the water. She was then transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Officials confirmed the woman is expected to make a full recovery after this dramatic rescue.
