Stuart, Florida – The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is assisting Martin County Fire Rescue and Florida Forestry Services with a brush fire burning north of Martin Highway, between SW Boat Ramp Ave. and 84th St.
The fire has already spread across 130 acres but is currently 70% contained. Authorities say no structures have been burned and no injuries have been reported.
Our units are evacuating approximately a dozen homes in the affected area as a precaution. These are not yet mandatory evacuations, but residents north of Martin Highway, between SW Boat Ramp Ave. and 84th St., are urged to stay alert and monitor fire activity.
A video shows a helicopter filling water in its reservoir and dropping it on the fire. MCSO’s Air1 is actively deploying its Bambi Bucket to throw water on the flames, aiming to slow the fire’s spread.
The Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. Residents are asked to stay vigilant and follow instructions from emergency personnel.
