Hanoi Sky Explodes In Fiery Spectacle As City Welcomes Lunar New Year

Hanoi, Vietnam – On the night of February 16-17, 2026, Hanoi erupted in dazzling fireworks to welcome the Lunar New Year, Tet Nguyen Dan, ushering in the Year of the Fire Horse. Video filmed by v from a high vantage point captures the breathtaking display across the city.

The footage opens on a sweeping panorama of Hanoi’s dense skyline, buildings aglow with warm lights and streets alive with traffic. At midnight, hundreds of fireworks launch in unison, transforming the horizon into a canvas of color and light. Bright red and gold bursts explode into massive shimmering spheres, while green and white cascades streak upward, illuminating rooftops and filling the night sky with a soft, ethereal glow.

As the camera holds on the cityscape, the display intensifies. High-altitude shells detonate in rhythmic waves, sending sparks raining like meteor showers, interspersed with synchronized ground-level fountains. Smoke trails weave through the bursts, turning the skyline into a living tapestry of celebration and renewal, accompanied by the cheers of crowds below.

The finale delivers a barrage of overlapping colors fading into the night, leaving Hanoi shrouded in a lingering haze, perfectly capturing the joyous transition into the new year.

The elaborate celebration involved 33 locations with 34 launch sites, including 11 high-altitude combined with low-level effects and 23 low-altitude shows. The fireworks fired for 15 minutes from midnight, funded by nearly VND 40 billion from state and social sources. Crowds gathered at Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, and Lac Long Quan Flower Garden, with international tourists joining in the festive atmosphere of live music, countdowns, and seasonal displays.
