Bay of Cádiz, Spain – The Guardia Civil intercepted a major cocaine shipment aboard a container ship 40 miles from the Bay of Cádiz on the Vigo-Málaga route.
Authorities discovered the ship had been boarded by stowaways at sea. These individuals attempted to remove cocaine bundles from containers and transfer them to another vessel.
The ship was located and escorted to Cádiz port before the drug transfer could be completed.
So far, 38 bales of cocaine have been seized, totaling approximately 1,300 kilograms and valued at around $50 million. Inspection of the ship continues due to its large size.
The operation began after the Guardia Civil obtained information about the ship’s suspected cocaine cargo.
Once docked, police launched a thorough search, finding the 38 bundles on the upper deck near the containers.
The ongoing investigation aims to complete the inspection and secure all illegal substances on board.
