Grappler Device Brings DUI Suspect To Controlled Stop

Douglas County, USA – In the early hours of October 4, 2025, Douglas County Deputies assisted the Aurora Police Department in a high-risk DUI pursuit along E-470 near Gartrell Road.

The pursuit began at approximately 4:22 a.m. as a suspected impaired driver headed westbound. Deputies quickly set up two sets of stop sticks to safely halt the vehicle, but the suspect continued driving recklessly.

A Douglas County patrol vehicle equipped with the Grappler device joined the chase. Deputies skillfully positioned themselves behind and then in front of the suspect vehicle. The car struck concrete barriers multiple times before the Grappler was successfully deployed just west of South Quebec Street, bringing the vehicle to an immediate and controlled stop.

The suspect complied with officers and was taken into custody by Aurora Police without incident.
