Frozen Swan Trapped In Icy Pond Saved By Quick Emergency Response

City of Rye, New York – Police and Fire Departments responded to an emergency involving a distressed mute swan whose rear had become frozen to a pond due to cold conditions.

Working together, responders carefully freed the bird, successfully preventing further injury.

The rescue was monitored using a department drone, which provided a safe aerial view to guide crews during the operation.

After being released from the ice, the swan was taken to Animal Nation, a non-profit wildlife rescue, rehabilitation facility, and animal sanctuary serving Westchester, Rockland, Fairfield, and surrounding counties.

Officials thanked Police and Fire personnel for their teamwork and recognized the organization for its continued support of community wildlife.
