Pittsburg County, OK – On November 18, Troop E troopers were traveling on US-69 when a commercial motor vehicle hauling loose tires lost part of its load. The tires bounced over the barrier wall and smashed into an Oklahoma Highway Patrol unit, creating a serious safety hazard.
The driver stopped and was identified as KUTMANALI BEKBOLOT, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan. Troopers quickly realized he did not understand English during their contact.
An investigation revealed he had been living in New York, where he was issued a commercial driver’s license. Troopers questioned his immigration status and, after consulting with ICE, determined he did not have legal status to be in the United States.
BEKBOLOT was arrested and transferred to ICE custody. He later stated that he had entered the U.S. through Mexico.
Officials said the incident underscores the importance of the partnership between OHP and ICE. They emphasized that individuals without legal status holding commercial driver’s licenses are not meeting the same safety standards as legal, professional drivers, raising serious concerns.
They noted that, although only an OHP unit was damaged this time, loose tires have caused deadly incidents in the past. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol stated that this response reflects its core mission to safeguard Oklahomans by providing a safe, secure environment through courteous, quality, and professional service.
