Honduras – On October 18, 2025, firefighters from the Honduras Fire Department rescued a small brown-and-white puppy that had been trapped in a river for seven days. The puppy, missing one leg, had been stranded on a rock in a shallow, muddy tropical river surrounded by banana plants and ferns.
Video footage shows two firefighters in orange gear wading carefully into the river. They coaxed the frightened puppy with ropes and towels, lifting it safely amid splashes and whines. Once rescued, the puppy was wrapped in a blanket beside the department’s red truck, now safe and out of danger.
The rescue demonstrates the dedication and compassion of Honduran firefighters, ensuring even the smallest and most vulnerable receive help in life-threatening situations.
