Firefighters Lasso Stranded Deer From Algae Covered Pond In Virginia

Fincastle, VA – Firefighters in Virginia rescued a deer that had wandered into a water retention pond and could not find a way out.

Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department Company 4 said on social media that the crew was alerted by an animal control deputy from the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office.

Firefighters went to the retention pond near the Roanoke Cement plant and found the deer swimming in algae covered water.

The crew guided the animal into a corner of the pond and used a lasso to pull the deer out of the water.

The deer was found to be uninjured and was taken to the edge of the property so it could return to the wild.
