Fano, Italy – Firefighters rushed into action on the morning of October 9, 2025, after hydrochloric acid solution began leaking from a tanker truck.
The heavy vehicle was moved to a parking area near the Fano highway toll gate, where the local fire brigade and the Regional NBCR Unit (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, Radiological) worked together to contain the spill using specialized sealing pads. They held the scene until the arrival of the Transfer Unit from Venice.
Once on site, the Venice team carried out a secure transfer of the acid from one tanker to another, ensuring full safety throughout the procedure.
Operations were completed around 4:30 p.m. Personnel from ARPAM and technicians from the environmental services company were also on location, monitoring conditions as firefighters prevented a potential environmental hazard.
