Bilecik, Turkey – A massive fire tornado was captured on video in Bilecik, showing plumes of smoke spiraling into the sky as firefighters battled the flames with a water hose.
The footage was released on July 21 and comes amid a wave of wildfires sweeping across the country this summer.
Officials reported that hundreds of fires have broken out nationwide, forcing tens of thousands of residents to evacuate temporarily.
Two people were killed by the blazes earlier this month in the western province of Izmir.
As fires continue to spread, a message shared alongside the footage read, “We are up against an enemy that never gets hungry, never tires, never rests. Our heroes’ greatest motivation is their love for the Green Homeland.”
It added, “With your heartfelt support and the bravery of our heroes, we will defeat this enemy together.”
Greece and other Mediterranean nations remain in what scientists call a “wildfire hotspot,” where intense blazes are common during hot and dry summers.
