Farmers Flood Streets Of Alicante With Massive Tractor Convoy In Protest

Alicante, Spain – On January 29, 2026, dozens of farmers drove a convoy of tractors through the city of Alicante, protesting EU agricultural policies and rising costs for workers in the sector.

The tractors, many brightly colored and decorated with Spanish flags, regional symbols, and protest banners, moved slowly through the streets. Drivers honked horns while some waved, expressing frustration over low produce prices, import competition, bureaucracy, and declining wages.

Protesters on foot carried placards with messages highlighting the economic pressure on Spanish farmers, including complaints about falling salaries despite rising market costs.

The demonstration was highly visible and part of a nationwide wave of protests across Spain in late January 2026. Similar tractor convoys disrupted traffic in other cities, including Madrid, Bilbao, and Vitoria, organized by unions demanding policy changes on trade agreements, green regulations, and support for agricultural workers.

The video was shared online with a caption expressing concern for the farmers’ livelihoods. Responses emphasized support and highlighted the intensity of the protest.
