Omaha, Nebraska – Eswin Mejia, a Honduran criminal fugitive, has been extradited to the United States. He fled after killing 21-year-old Sarah Root in a drunk driving crash.
The incident happened nine years ago in Omaha. Mejia, who was driving under the influence, caused the death of the young woman.
After the crash, Mejia escaped and remained on the run. Authorities tracked him down in Honduras, leading to his capture.
Now, after nearly a decade, Mejia faces justice in the U.S. He was brought back to Nebraska to answer for the crime.
