Engine Fire Forces United Flight 2127 Emergency Landing And Evacuation At LAX

Los Angeles, USA – A passenger described the chaotic evacuation of United Flight 2127 as travelers rushed out of the aircraft after an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport.

Passengers were seen sliding down inflatable emergency chutes onto the tarmac before running away from the aircraft, some carrying their belongings. In the background, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner stood with thick black smoke pouring from its left engine as firefighters sprayed foam to extinguish the flames.

The evacuation unfolded both inside the cabin and on the ground, with people exiting through multiple slides and mobile stairs onto the taxiway just off the runway. Travelers moved quickly across the asphalt in daylight as emergency crews responded to the scene.

The incident occurred on March 2, 2026, shortly after the flight departed from Los Angeles International Airport at around 10:15 a.m. local time, heading to Newark Liberty International Airport. A left-engine fire alarm prompted pilots to shut down the engine and return.

The aircraft landed back at approximately 11:19 a.m., about an hour after takeoff. All 256 passengers and 12 crew members evacuated safely and were transported to the terminal by bus, with no injuries reported.
