Elderly Woman With Dementia Found Alive In Swamp After Helicopter Search In Michigan

Van Buren County, Michigan – Daisy Hoffman, an 83-year-old woman with dementia, was found in a swamp nearly a mile from where she was last seen after going missing Tuesday afternoon.

She had disappeared around 1 p.m. from a residence on 35th Street in Waverly Township, walking eastbound.

Michigan State Police troopers from the Paw Paw Post began searching for Hoffman, who was described as 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair.

At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing shorts, a pink robe, and black slippers with a gray bow.

Authorities said she may have been unable to communicate her name or location due to her condition.

A Michigan State Police helicopter located Hoffman in a swamp area. She was found safe, according to officials.
