Early Morning Earthquake Rattles Bogota Cityscape

Bogota, Colombia – In the early hours of December 10, 2025, residents of Bogota experienced a 5.5-magnitude earthquake. The tremor struck at 3:27 a.m. local time, about seven miles northeast of Jordán, Colombia, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Diego García captured a nighttime video from his high-rise apartment during the quake. The footage shows the city skyline glowing with neon lights, scattered lit windows, wet streets, and distant mountains under cloudy skies. Alarms can be heard somewhere off-camera.

Seismologists are reviewing data and may adjust the reported magnitude or update the shake-severity map as additional information is collected.
