Eagan, MN – Eagan police made history as the first agency in Minnesota to deploy The Grappler on patrol cars, using it this past weekend to safely end a vehicle pursuit.
On Aug. 30, 2025, at 3:29 p.m., officers attempted to stop a 2000 white Toyota Tundra towing a U-Haul trailer after it ran a red light at Yankee Doodle Rd and Denmark Ave. The adult female driver refused to stop and led officers on a chase into St. Paul.
Near Otto Ave and Shepard Rd, an Eagan PD Chevy Tahoe equipped with the Grappler caught up and took the lead. As the suspect vehicle slowed for a corner, the officer successfully deployed the Grappler, bringing the pursuit to a controlled stop.
The driver fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. She faces multiple charges including Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle, Fleeing Police on Foot, Driving After Revocation, No Proof of Insurance, and Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device.
This marked the first operational use of the Grappler by Eagan police, highlighting the device’s effectiveness in safely ending dangerous pursuits.
