St. Johns County, FL – A routine call turned into a dramatic rescue on May 6, when deputies from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office discovered eight ducklings trapped in a storm drain.
The mother duck stood nearby, visibly distressed.
Deputies quickly called in St. Johns County Fire Rescue for help.
Working together, the teams used a bucket and net to gently lift the ducklings to safety.
Body camera footage captured the moment the ducklings were gathered.
“Put in the bucket. So sweet,” a deputy said.
The video also showed the ducklings waddling back to their mother.
“Go to your mom. There we go,” another deputy said.
A final word from a deputy summed it up: “That’s what we’re here for. Save the ducklings.”
