Drunken Men Mistake Canal For Pool, Compete In “Swimming Race” Before Rescue In Chengdu

Chengdu, China – Two men, heavily intoxicated, jumped into a roadside canal late at night, insisting on holding a swimming race to determine gold and silver medal winners.

Believing the canal was a proper swimming pool, the men began their stunt, drawing attention from onlookers.

Chengdu Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene to help.

Before the rescuers could act, the two men began politely insisting the other go up first, pushing each other in drunken courtesy.

One grabbed the ladder while the other boosted him from below, lifting him by the waist.

Firefighters then assisted both men out of the water, acting like “hydraulic jacks” to get them safely ashore.
