Jensen Beach, USA – A man suspected of driving under the influence tried to outsmart deputies by pretending to be asleep in the passenger seat — even though he was seen behind the wheel moments earlier.
Deputies were dispatched to the Goose Pub area on Indian River Drive over the weekend after receiving a report of an intoxicated driver. When they arrived, they saw Clinton Kiely driving erratically, yelling from his window, then sharply turning into Hoffman’s Restaurant parking lot.
As deputies approached, Kiely performed a strange maneuver: he slid over from the driver’s seat to the passenger side and shut his eyes, pretending to be fast asleep.
The problem? He was the only person in the car.
Despite multiple attempts to wake him, Kiely refused to respond. After several minutes, officers opened the door and escorted him out. He was arrested and charged with DUI and Resisting without Violence, and taken to the Martin County Jail.
