Drunk Driver Destroys Tents And Artwork At Montauk Green Art Show

Montauk, New York – Chaos erupted early Sunday morning when a drunk driver plowed through tents and artwork at Montauk Green, destroying numerous pieces just hours before a community art event.

The video of the aftermath, recorded by Evan Reinheimer, shows the destruction left behind on the grassy park.

According to East Hampton Town Police, the crash occurred at approximately 2:59 a.m. on Carl Fisher Plaza.

Authorities say 23-year-old Nicoly Ribeiro De Souza of Farmingville drove a 2020 Nissan Rogue onto the area where tents and artwork were set up overnight for the annual “Art Show on the Green.”

Police confirmed that “numerous tents and pieces of artwork were damaged” in the crash.

Ribeiro De Souza sustained minor injuries and was taken to Southampton Hospital for treatment.

Following her release, she was charged with driving while intoxicated and six counts of reckless criminal mischief.

She remains in custody awaiting arraignment.
