Santoña, Spain – The Guardia Civil has uncovered 51 illegal fishing traps and a one-kilometer-long net in the waters of Santoña Bay, Cantabria.

The operation was carried out jointly by the provincial Maritime Services of the Guardia Civil in Bizkaia and Cantabria.

Authorities located and removed the unauthorized fishing gear, which contained no catches, preventing significant harm to the local marine ecosystem.

The coordinated effort highlights ongoing vigilance against illegal fishing practices and the importance of protecting marine biodiversity in the region.
