DPS Trooper Stops Human Smuggling Operation Saving Young Children

Kinney County, Texas – On February 11, 2026, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper stopped a black Cadillac XT5 on US-90 in Kinney County and uncovered a human smuggling attempt.

The driver, Georgina De Hoyos of San Antonio, was found transporting four illegal immigrants: one adult male from Honduras, one adult female from Belize, and two children aged six and eight from Belize.

Investigation revealed the man from Honduras had paid $10,000 to be smuggled into the U.S. and transported to Florida. The woman and the two children had been waiting at a stash house for transport to San Antonio.

De Hoyos was arrested and charged with four counts of human smuggling. Thanks to the trooper’s vigilance, the two children were safely recovered.

All four individuals were referred to U.S. Border Patrol custody for further processing.
