Disaster In Pavia As Ticino River Floods Homes And Streets

Pavia, Italy – On Friday, April 18, 2025, teams were at work for the overflow of the Ticino River.

Since this morning, firefighters have been engaged in intense rescue operations following the flooding of the Ticino River that affected several areas of the Pavia territory.

Two S.A.F. (Speleo Alpino Fluviale) teams are operating to assist people affected by the event, particularly those isolated in their homes.

The area most impacted is the “Borgo Ticino” neighborhood near Via Milazzo, which is adjacent to the Ticino River.

To ensure effective management of operations, a Local Command Unit was set up at Piazzale Ferruccio Ghinaglia, serving as a coordination point for firefighters, Civil Protection, law enforcement, and local authorities.

About ten families have been assisted so far. For some, transportation to safe areas with rubber boats was necessary. For others, delivery of essential goods and recovery of personal belongings from flooded homes was organized.

Operations will continue in the coming hours due to the persistent high water level and evolving weather conditions.
