Deputies Shoot Two Dogs While Serving Waring Road Warrant

Whitfield County, USA – A tense encounter on August 22, 2025, ended with two dogs shot by deputies attempting to serve a warrant on Waring Road.

According to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, the first dog, on a leash, leaped and bit a deputy. The officer fired, wounding the animal. Moments later, a second dog ran from a structure and charged deputies, prompting another officer to fire, killing the dog.

Body camera footage of the incident has been released to provide transparency to the community. Following a review, both deputies were cleared of misconduct and will return to their regular duties.

Sheriff Darren J. Pierce highlighted the challenges of rapidly evolving, high-risk situations. “Incidents like this remind us of the challenges deputies face in unpredictable, rapidly evolving, and tense situations,” he said. The office emphasized its commitment to community safety and accountability.
