Deck Collapse Traps Two Wheelchair Users In Indianapolis Home

Indianapolis, USA – Indianapolis Fire Department crews rushed to 1111 Newman Street after a rear deck suddenly collapsed, trapping two adults who were both in wheelchairs.

Firefighters were dispatched for a report of an injured person, but upon arrival they discovered two individuals pinned beneath the fallen structure.

Crews quickly freed the male resident along with his wheelchair within minutes. The rescue of a 71-year-old woman, however, proved more difficult due to her position within the debris.

Firefighters worked for about 15 minutes to stabilize the area and carefully secure her before placing her onto a backboard for transport by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services.

Despite the dramatic collapse, no injuries were reported. The cause of the deck failure remains unknown.
