Rochester, New York, USA – Video filmed by X user Joseph Frascati shows aircraft de-icing operations underway at Rochester International Airport on the morning of January 15, 2026.
The footage captures a commercial regional jet parked at the airport with a thin layer of frost or light snow covering its fuselage, wings, and tail following overnight accumulation. Ground crews prepare the aircraft for departure toward Runway 22.
De-icing trucks with elevated booms are positioned alongside the plane, spraying bright green and orange de-icing fluid across the wings, engines, and tail section. The liquid pours off the aircraft, creating misty clouds in the cold air.
Crew members wearing high-visibility gear are seen directing the spray from the boom platforms as the procedure continues. Snow-covered apron areas, partially cleared taxiways with visible ice patches, terminal buildings, and other parked aircraft appear in the background under gray, overcast skies.
Light snowfall or flurries continue as daytime conditions remain dim due to heavy winter cloud cover. The scene highlights cold, wintry weather during ongoing airport operations in Western New York.
In the post accompanying the video, the filmer wrote, “This morning de-icing prior to departure. The staff got them to R-22 for take off,” noting that flights continued despite the conditions.
