Ourense, Spain – The Civil Guard, as part of Operation Vertigo, has arrested eight people belonging to a criminal organization dedicated to burglaries of inhabited homes in the province of Ourense. The investigation began after learning of several home robberies involving jewelry and cash worth 500,000 euros in the towns of Avión and Beariz.
The operation was carried out by the Ourense and Tarragona criminal investigation units, the Barcelona Criminal Investigation Service (GAR) and the General Investigation Service (GRS), the Barcelona and Tarragona Criminal Investigation Service (USECICs), the Canine Service, and the Castellón criminal investigation unit.
During the raid, eight house searches were conducted in Barcelona, Tarragona, and Castellón. Authorities seized two pistols, 2,100 marijuana plants, and various items used in the robberies. The investigation helped clarify 14 burglaries committed in several locations across the region. The robberies followed a similar pattern and showed a high degree of planning. This allowed officials to establish clear links between cases and identify the alleged criminals.
The operation has halted a series of robberies that were causing concern among local residents. Authorities continue judicial procedures to determine possible links and work on recovering stolen property.
