Cop Rides On Hood Of Civilian Car To Catch Fleeing Minibike Rider

Oklahoma City, USA – A daring Oklahoma City Police Department officer took to the hood of a civilian’s car during a dramatic pursuit on March 6 to stop a fleeing 17-year-old minibike rider.

The chase began around 8 p.m. near S. Santa Fe and S. Grand Blvd when the officer spotted two minibikes speeding without headlights. The riders immediately fled as he attempted to pull them over.

The minibikes veered off the road and tore through a yard, forcing the officer to continue on foot. Spotting a passing civilian vehicle, he quickly enlisted the driver’s help to maintain contact with the suspect.

“I observed a passing vehicle with the driver’s window down. I made contact with the driver and quickly determined that the driver was willing to assist law enforcement in maintaining visual contact with the fleeing violator,” the officer wrote in his report.

The officer rode on the hood for several blocks before leaping off and tackling the minibike rider near SW 49th and Sage Avenue. “Throughout the duration of this incident, I maintained due regard for the safety of the public, the assisting citizen, and the violator while attempting to bring the situation to a safe resolution,” he added.

The teen was safely taken into custody without injury, and all involved remained unharmed during the high-risk pursuit.
