Grand Traverse Bay, Michigan – A U.S. Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Traverse City responded swiftly to a flooding 30-foot sailing vessel with two people aboard.
The initial report came into Sector Northern Great Lakes command center at 9:22 a.m. Saturday.
The helicopter crew arrived quickly and helped stabilize the vessel to prevent it from sinking.
Following the rescue, Station Charlevoix escorted the sailing vessel safely back to Sutton Bay Marina.
The operation showcased effective teamwork and training between air stations and local Coast Guard units.
