Coast Guard Performs Emergency Medevac Of Man 185 Miles Offshore San Francisco

San Francisco, California – On June 10, 2025, the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a hoist during an emergency medevac of an adult male 185 miles offshore of San Francisco.

District 11 watchstanders received a call around 10 a.m. from the captain of the cargo ship Aetos.

The captain reported a 40-year-old crew member showing symptoms of appendicitis.

The crew member was approximately 820 miles offshore when the emergency began.

The Coast Guard responded quickly to carry out the medevac and ensure the man received urgent medical care.
