Coast Guard Cutter Rescues Stranded Individual On Lake Huron Ice

Mackinac Island, United States – U.S. Coast Guard members aboard Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw (WLBB 30) rescued a stranded individual on ice near Mackinac Island, Michigan, on March 15, 2026.

The cutter’s ice rescue team was deployed to bring the person safely aboard the vessel. Once on board, the individual received first-level medical care and was stabilized.

The operation highlights the Coast Guard’s preparedness and capability to conduct rescues in hazardous icy conditions on the Great Lakes.
