Coast Guard And Good Samaritans Rescue Mariners From Sinking Vessel

Daytona Beach, Florida – A Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City HC-130 Hercules aircrew, working alongside the crew of the motor tanker Radiant Pride, rescued three people from a 44-foot sailing vessel taking on water, 450 miles east of Daytona Beach, on February 1, 2026.

Coast Guard Southeast District watchstanders received an emergency notification via radio beacon at approximately 3:20 p.m. The aircrew was launched promptly and located the distressed vessel at around 8:30 p.m. amid 20-foot seas.

The combined efforts of the Coast Guard and Radiant Pride’s crew ensured the mariners were safely removed from the sinking boat, highlighting rapid coordination and bravery under extreme ocean conditions.
