Chillicothe – Officer Jon Campbell has been awarded the Medal of Merit by the Chillicothe Police Department following his decisive actions during a choking emergency involving an infant.

On October 12, 2025, Officer Campbell responded to a call about a choking baby. Through his calm demeanor and life-saving techniques, he successfully cleared the infant’s airway.

His swift response and commitment to preserving life demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, courage and service upheld by the Chillicothe Police Department.

The department congratulates Officer Campbell on this well-deserved honor and expresses appreciation for his dedication to protecting and serving the citizens of Chillicothe.

They also shared their happiness that Josephine is doing well and that she and her family were able to attend the recognition ceremony.
