Brush Fire Jumps Freeway And Burns 120 Acres Near Chino Hills Before Being Stopped

Chino Hills, California – A vegetation fire broke out near Euclid Avenue on Wednesday, July 23, and quickly spread, jumping the 71 Freeway and forcing its closure in both directions at Euclid Avenue.

By Thursday morning, July 24, Cal Fire San Bernardino reported that the Euclid fire had scorched 120 acres in the Prado Dam area and was 10% contained.

The fire’s forward progress was halted by 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department issued an evacuation warning for Eastvale residents, which was later lifted. The California Institution for Women, a prison in Chino, also received a warning and sent officials to the fire’s command post to monitor the situation.

No injuries or structural damage were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
