Douglasville, United States – X user Brandon Shipp captured a dramatic display of lightning over a suburban neighborhood in Douglasville, Georgia, as multiple brilliant white and purple bolts flashed across a dark, stormy sky.
The footage shows illuminated houses, trees, streetlights, power lines, and a distant church steeple below as intense lightning branched across clouds, briefly washing out the entire frame before fading back to darkness. Several powerful strikes occurred in quick succession, captured in a time-lapse style around 5:38 a.m. on March 16, 2026.
The storm was part of a line of severe thunderstorms sweeping through north Georgia and metro Atlanta early that Monday morning, producing damaging winds, widespread lightning, and an EF-0 tornado in nearby DeKalb County.
