Brave Police Officers Rush Into Burning Home To Save Family

Cleveland, OH – Body-worn camera footage released Thursday shows Cleveland Fourth District officers rescuing a family from a house fire on January 9, 2026.

Officers noticed flames while fueling their patrol car at around 8:10 a.m. on the 9400 block of Parkview Avenue. The bottom unit of the double residential house was fully engulfed in fire.

The video captures officers entering the home to alert residents and guide them to safety. Four people inside were escorted out, and officers helped them safely exit a fenced backyard amid concerns about live wires.

“Officers safely removed all parties from the home and backyard,” the Cleveland Division of Police said. All residents were medically evaluated by Cleveland EMS, with no serious injuries reported. Family pets were also reunited with their owners.

The Cleveland Division of Police praised the officers’ actions on social media: “We are grateful for all our officers and our Public Safety family who day in & out serve our community.”
