Blizzard Strands Motorists As Guardia Civil Battles Snow And Ice On A-395

Granada, Spain – Guardia Civil officers faced fierce winter conditions on February 2, 2026, as they rescued motorists stranded on the A-395 highway leading to Sierra Nevada. Heavy snowfall, poor visibility, and icy roads made every intervention challenging.

Officers in bright reflective jackets pushed a commercial van stuck sideways, maneuvering it back onto the cleared lane while uphill slopes and snowbanks added to the danger. In other sections, personnel helped drivers exit vehicles, cleared windshields, and guided traffic through treacherous snow and ice.

Snowplows and emergency vehicles worked alongside officers to keep lanes passable, while nearby roads were closed or required chains due to drifting snow. High winds and accumulating snow created hazardous conditions, forcing authorities to issue alerts and warn drivers to avoid unnecessary travel.

The Guardia Civil’s Traffic Grouping coordinated efforts across multiple roads, ensuring safety for stranded motorists and maintaining access wherever possible.
