Irving, Texas – Police in Texas successfully reunited a man with his blind pigeon, Kevin, after the bird hitched a ride in the bed of a pickup truck at the owner’s business.
Luis Valdez, owner of L&R Auto Service, said Kevin is a familiar presence at his shop. “He’s home with me on the weekend. My whole family knows him, and many of my customers now know him. They go straight to see him,” Valdez explained.
Kevin, who is blind and unable to fly, had been adopted by Valdez after being abandoned from his mother’s nest. Valdez became concerned when the pigeon went missing while inspecting a customer’s truck.
He contacted Irving police, who tracked down the customer. Body camera footage shows an officer telling the truck owner, “I’m about to tell you the weirdest thing you’ve ever heard,” before checking the vehicle. Kevin was found safely in the truck bed.
“Is the pigeon under arrest?” an officer joked as Kevin was recovered. The bird was then returned to the shop, allowing a heartwarming reunion with Valdez.
