Baltimore Officers Rescue Family From Burning Home

Baltimore, USA – Early Monday morning, Baltimore City Police officers carried out a tense rescue at a house fire on the 2200 block of Wilkens Avenue. The alarm came in at 3:41 a.m., and officers arrived to find flames spreading rapidly to an adjacent vacant storefront.

Body camera footage captures Officer Elmera rushing from his vehicle and calling out, “Anybody up there? Where? Where? Where are they?” He reached the back of the house and helped a woman and her dog escape the inferno.

Meanwhile, Officer Causion assisted in evacuating additional residents. Officer Elmera then ran upstairs to help an elderly woman descend, requiring Sergeant Holt’s support to carry her safely out of the home.

Smoke inhalation forced Officer Elmera to be hospitalized, though he remains in stable condition. All residents were successfully evacuated without injury.

Firefighters reported significant damage to both buildings, with repair costs estimated at $30,000. Authorities confirmed there were no signs of arson.

The coordinated efforts of Baltimore City Police and Fire Department personnel highlight the dangers officers face when responding to residential fires.
