Aircraft Battling Dale Fire As Blaze Near Lake Riverside Grows Past 1000 Acres

Lake Riverside, United States – A dramatic video recorded by Taylor shows airplanes flying over the Dale Fire as it burns near Lake Riverside.

Taylor captioned the footage: “They brought big daddy out to play at DaleFire.”

The brush fire expanded to over 1,000 acres by Wednesday night, prompting evacuation orders and warnings that remained active Thursday morning.

By 6:49 a.m. Thursday, Cal Fire reported the Dale Fire at 1,072 acres with 25% containment. Crews had worked through the night to target hotspots and reinforce containment lines.

“Crews will be working through the night hitting hotspots as they continue to bolster the containment lines,” Cal Fire said at 12:41 a.m. The agency stated that no further updates would be issued that night unless “significant activity” occurred.

Evacuation orders were issued for a rural area south of Cahuilla and Anza. Warnings covered the Lake Riverside area, stretching south of US 371 and east to Terwilliger Road.

An evacuation center was opened at the Anza Community Center on Highway 371. The San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus, located at 581 S. Grand Ave., accepted evacuated pets.

As of 6:30 a.m., State Route 371 had reopened in all directions after a prior closure due to safety concerns.

The Dale Fire was first reported at 12:37 p.m. Wednesday. The cause remains under investigation.

Weather conditions from incoming monsoon humidity on Thursday and Friday may help slow the fire’s progression.
