Coast Guard Helicopter Rescues Cruise Passenger 58 Miles Offshore Oahu

Oahu, USA – A Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point helicopter crew carried out a medical evacuation of a cruise ship passenger who became ill while offshore, more than 50 miles from land.

On April 23, 2026, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew conducted the medevac operation approximately 58 miles offshore Oahu. The passenger was transported after becoming ailing while aboard a cruise ship in the area.

During the operation, an MH-60 Seahawk helicopter crew assigned to Navy Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 37 supported the mission. The Navy crew provided communications assistance and aerial overwatch while the Coast Guard helicopter carried out the evacuation.

The coordinated air operation ensured support was maintained throughout the rescue effort at sea.
