Tampa Bay, United States – A kayaker was rescued after being pulled offshore near Egmont Key by strong currents and tides on April 18, 2026, as the sun was setting.

The incident prompted a response from teamHCSO’s Marine Unit after the kayaker was unable to safely return to shore due to the water conditions.

Deputies located the kayaker and brought both the person and the vessel aboard a 33-foot Safe Boat. They were then transported back to shore near Fort De Soto.

The rescue was completed safely without further issues.

Authorities reminded the public to always check water and weather conditions before heading out.
