Auburn, United States – Police recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested a suspect after a driver attempted to flee during a traffic stop on April 4.
Officers were alerted to the vehicle after it was detected by Flock Safety automated license plate reader technology as it moved through Auburn.
An officer located the vehicle in the area and attempted to conduct a stop. The driver initially complied but then tried to escape, leading officers to intervene.
Police were able to disable and contain the vehicle at an intersection with help from multiple responding units.
The driver refused repeated commands to exit the vehicle. After further warnings, officers used less-lethal tools to resolve the situation.
The driver was then taken into custody without further incident.
A passenger inside the vehicle followed commands, was detained, and later released.
Investigators confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen from a nearby jurisdiction and that the driver did not have permission to use it.
The suspect was booked into jail on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle and attempting to elude police.
