Iowa Neighborhood Covered In Hail As Severe Storm System Brings Sudden Midwest Threat

Iowa, United States – Intense hail battered a quiet suburban neighborhood street during a severe weather outbreak that moved across Iowa.

Video filmed by X user Noel shows heavy hail striking a residential area as storms passed through, with rain and fog reducing visibility across the scene.

The shaky handheld footage, recorded from a porch or window with a black railing visible in the foreground, pans across lawns covered in white hailstones. A wet asphalt road, sidewalks, and nearby homes with yards, trees, and power lines are also visible as precipitation continues to fall.

According to the post’s caption: “Hail in Iowa … had an unwarned tornado just 15 minutes south of us. Was watching a weather YouTubers stream and was dying inside as the tornado warned storm was going directly at us.”

The clip comes from a severe weather system that impacted eastern Iowa and parts of Wisconsin on April 14-15, 2026. The outbreak produced multiple tornadoes, damaging winds reaching up to 88 mph, and large hail, with reports of stones ranging from golf ball to nearly softball size, up to 3.5 inches.

The storms affected communities including Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and surrounding areas, bringing significant damage to homes, vehicles, and property.
