S. Telluride St., United States – K9 Rex, one of the ACSO dogs trained to locate missing children, helped find a 7-year-old girl after she was separated from her mother for nearly two hours at a park in the 6400 block of S. Telluride St. on April 2.
Deputies, K9 units, and drones were deployed immediately after the child ran off because she did not want to leave.
Deputy Gray and K9 Rex began tracking using the girl’s shoes to pick up her scent. Rex quickly followed the trail and led deputies to a nearby backyard where the child was located.
The girl attempted to run again, but Deputy Halliburton caught up with her safely. She was unharmed and reunited with her family.
This marks Rex’s first successful recovery of a missing child since completing tracking training last year.
