Fort Polk, United States – U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to Multi-Functional Reconnaissance Company, 3rd Mobile Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), alongside defense contractors, prepared and launched an Aerosonde unmanned aircraft system during a Joint Readiness Training Center rotation at Fort Polk, Louisiana, on April 9, 2026.
The Aerosonde provides continuous aerial surveillance and real-time reconnaissance, supporting mission planning and tactical operations for ground units.
During the same training rotation, Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), together with contractor personnel, operated the Aerosonde unmanned aircraft system. The long-endurance drone was used to observe the area and deliver real-time information to units on the ground, assisting them in planning and executing their missions.
